Splintered Bones Sarah Booth Delaney Carolyn Haines Books

Splintered Bones Sarah Booth Delaney Carolyn Haines Books
While I would say there is no violence, and not too much sex, there is still a murder of a man who beats his wife., infidelity and romantic interludes included. So if you are avoiding the world as it is, this is not your book. But I think it fits the cozy prescription in that the characters are the major part of the story and nothing is too horrible or creepy. I like Carolyn Haines writing style. I like the ghost, imagined or not; I think the southern voice of this book is authentic and positive. No Nobel Prize, but an enjoyable read that will keep you turning the pages and if you live outside Mississippi, will give you a view of life there from a certain perspective.

Splintered Bones Sarah Booth Delaney Carolyn Haines Books Reviews
I really enjoyed this book. She writes very nicely and keeps your interest. It was so nice it all came together, but I was surprised who the bad guys were. Read and enjoy. Thank you Ms. Delaney
I don't usually like fantasy but the ghost, Jitty," is a nice touch. Haines manages to have you keep turning the pages quickly to figure out who the murderer is, and it doesn't unwrap until the very end.
Item arrived quickly and as described
What can I say? I am addicted to this series. Carolyn Haines writing style has totally captured my heart, and I don't dare read these out of order. In this latest book that I finished yesterday(I dragged it out because somehow I did not order Crossed Bones which is next in the series BUT I just ordered from )we are presented with a murder mystery of a dysfunctional family of the highest order. There is the usual melange of childhood friends of Sarah Booth, peppered with some out of town interlopers(sprinkled would be too mild to describe them). Sarah Booth's childhood friend Lee, has offered herself up as the killer of her abusive husband..which we soon sense if to protect her troubled but talented teen age daughter(Kip). There are so many red flags on this that you know in your heart all this sacrifice (to save the horse farm, and horses that Lee so dearly loves) is simply the ultimate in Mother Courage no matter how misguided it may be. Oh this book offers up the Daddy's Girls at their worst and finest. Throw in a handsome ranch hand, Bud, some internet invites for unbeknownst to Sarah Booth for the Charity Ball, and Jitty the ghost who has too much fun keeping a sardonic eye out for Sarah Booth...and some good ol' southern mob boys and you have all the fixin's of an engaging whodunit. Might I say, however that I was pleased to have guessed at least one character in this merry mosaic that was a definite bad guy, but the rest kept me guessing till the end, and it was SO worth it.
I love the Sarah Delaney books, they're well written and keep me turning the pages. I stopped reading them when she got in the movies and became engaged to some movie star, but this is an older book that I missed and was thoroughly enjoyable.
I simply could not put it down! I'm still dissecting the book to decide why and how it captured my interest. It's a great cozy involving a P.I. - Sarah Booth Delaney, her friend, Eulalee (Lee) McBride - who has admitted killing her husband, a ghost - Jitty, horses, a rebellious teenager - Kip, and an assortment of other characters! How could Ms. Haines miss?
The third book in this series delivers another satisfying mystery. Sarah Booth has been hired to help a childhood friend and she has her work cut out for her. If you enjoy mysteries with the charm of the south, then this series is for you.
